Wasps and POTA?

Wasps and POTA?
QRP CW POTA Activation by a Lake

CW POTA Activation by the Lake at Joe Wheeler State Park

We love camping and hiking, and this is a great place for both. This beautiful park in Alabama is a mix of lake views and lush green beauty—perfect for enjoying nature while playing radio and CW. We hiked from our camper to explore around the lake and found a beautiful spot. However, be on the lookout for the unexpected, like when a cheeky wasp decided to join our adventure. Becky kept laughing, even while editing the video. Mike, not so much.

This is the first activation from a weekend of activations. It will take us a minute to get through editing and posting them. Each activation was special for it's own reason, so stay tuned!

Our Straight Key Morse Code Fun

In this activation, Becky's was using her favorite field straight key, Putikeeg Straight Key. She got 16 contacts in about 30 minutes. Our setup featured some cool gear, including the CFT1 5-Band CW Field Transceiver. The antenna was our current favorite, the K6ARK EFHW, that requires no coax and gets the job done. It wasn’t just about making contacts; it was about the fun and learning that comes with each QSO. We even had a little hiccup with our wasp friend, but that’s all part of the fun!
