Sunset to Moonlight π Morse Code POTA

We had a fun POTA starting at sunset and ending after dark.
Testing a prototype antenna at Joe Wheeler State Park
Hello to all our CW friends! This is another morse code parks on the air (POTA) activation at the beautiful Joe Wheeler State Park in Alabama.
In our video, watch as we set up our gear under a stunning sunset. We put our early"Just OK" Mini Antenna to the test. This was one of the early prototypes before we added some convenience features such as β ability to mount it on a any tripod mount and an integrated ground lug for radios like this CFT1 without one.
Our "Just OK" Mini Antenna Adventure
Our adventure proved that sometimes "just OK" is more than enough! With this compromised little antenna, we made 11 contacts across different states while getting to enjoy the evening. Could we have done better with a full sized antenna? Yes. Did we still get it done. Yes.
For this activation, we used our CFT1 5-Band CW Field Transceiver. It never disappoints with a wonderful sound and good performance. It works well paired with our USB-PD battery.
Thank You to Our Operators
A big thank you to all the other morse code ops who made contact with us: Stephen in Idaho, Chris in Illinois, Chad in Iowa, Thomas in Texas, Dane also in Illinois, Glenn in Wisconsin, Tom in Florida, Don in Wisconsin, Douglas in New Hampshire, Monte in Minnesota, and Carmen in Ohio. You each helped make our activation a great success!
